MANDATE: Victim Services of Temiskaming & District is a non-profit, community based program that provides immediate crisis assistance through specially trained staff and community volunteers who are on-call to area police and emergency services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

OUR MISSION - To lessen the emotional trauma experienced by victims of crime or tragic circumstances by providing confidential immediate emotional support, practical assistance, information and community referrals.

Organization Overview

Victim Services of Temiskaming & District is governed by a Voluntary Community Board, consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and additional community members. The Board's roles and responsibilities are guided by a set of By-Laws.

Our staff consists of an Executive Director, Program Coordinators in each Temiskaming and Kirkland Lake areas. Our Team of specially trained Volunteer Crisis Responders and staff provide on-scene and telephone support on a 24/7 basis.

Victims and their families requiring immediate support are referred to Victim Services while Emergency Personnel and the Police are on-scene. Victims, families and friends of those who have been traumatized as a result of crime, and/or tragedy can seek support without police involvement may call into the Victim Services Office, during regular business hours to access services under our Outreach and Victim Quick Response programs.
